VGA - FAQ
VGA Graphics introduces Color Magic World.

Scientists have discovered that the human brain interprets color information in a unique way. Using a technique similar to an optical illusion, images with literally thousands of colors can be reproduced using only three or four basic colors.
Computer Monitors: Red, green and blue (RGB) light are combined in varying degrees to display a color image on a monitor. When no light is present, the monitor displays black. All three colors are combined at maximum intensity (ie 100%), to display white.
4-Color Process Printing: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK) inks are combined to create a color image on a printed page. Assuming white paper, when no ink is present, the paper background (white) is visible. CMY inks can be combined at various percentages to create an entire color spectrum. Black ink is used as the fourth color to enhance color definition and contrast.

About Dots and Pixels

The quality of scanned or supplied images and artwork provided has a tremendous impact on the appearance of the final project.
Photos or raster images (tif & jpg) such as artwork created in Adobe PhotoShop should be scanned or produced at 300 dots per inch (dpi).
Black & White line art such as logos, etc. should be scanned at 1200 dpi.
Grayscale images such as black and white photos should be scanned at 600 dpi.
Vector images (eps) and fonts are generally device independent. This means they do not have a fixed dpi but will print at the maximum resolution of the output device. The brochure Place prints vector images & fonts at 2,450 dpi.

Scaling Scanned Images

Use your scanning software (not your DTP program) to scale or resize original artwork to the final dimensions you want to use.
Use scaling within a DTP program ONLY TO REDUCE image sizes. It is not recommended to enlarge images this way because you will reduce the effective resolution and cause unsightly jaggies caused by pixelation.
Beware of Images from the WEB SITE to use for Printing
Images copied from a website are almost always poor quality, only 72 dpi and will not give quality printed results. 300 dpi is the optimum resolution for color images from any source.
